About Babbitt Bearing Company — San Jose, Since 1945
Babbitt Bearing Company was founded in 1945 in San Jose, California. We have been putting worn industrial components back into service ever since.
Where we started
The company is named for what it opened doing: Babbitt bearings. Early work centred on automotive bearing and crankshaft repair and on food processing equipment — the industrial base of the Santa Clara Valley before it was Silicon Valley.
The valley changed. So did the work. Aerospace arrived, then semiconductor, then solar. Cast and flame sprayed Babbitt is still on the floor, but it sits alongside plating, thermal spray, CNC machining and non-destructive testing that would have been unrecognisable in 1945.
What we do now
bbc provides repair and manufacturing services to a wide array of industries including solar equipment manufacturing, the semiconductor industry, the aviation industry, food processing equipment manufacturing and many more.
Services include industrial hard chrome plating, precision grinding, CNC machining, thermal flame spray — including plasma flame spray, flame spray and twin wire arc spray — welding including MIG, TIG and arc, non-destructive testing, cast Babbitt, honing and dynamic balance.

bbc is an FAA approved Repair Station. Our Quality Manual, Repair Station Manual and employee training programs have been developed in accordance with the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulation Part 145.

Most rebuilds need more than one process. A worn shaft gets machined, plated or sprayed, ground back to print, inspected, and sometimes balanced. Where those steps live in different shops, each handoff is a freight leg, a queue, and a chance for the schedule to slip.
