Hydraulic Ram Shaft Repair & Hard Chrome Plating

Rebuilt, ground and inspected without leaving the building.

The failure and the fix

A ram shaft rides through a seal. When the chrome wears or scores, the seal goes, and the cylinder starts leaking. Replacing the shaft means lead time; rebuilding it usually does not.

Hard chrome plating puts the surface back — anywhere from a thin corrosion-protection layer up to heavy buildup — and cylindrical grinding brings it to the finished diameter.

What we do to them

  • Hard chrome plating, .0001" to .050"
  • Cylindrical grinding to finished diameter
  • Weld build-up where heavier material is needed
  • Magnetic particle or liquid penetrant inspection
