The work
Aviation components come to BBC because the shop is an FAA approved Repair Station, #BK3R400L, working to FAR 145. Compressor wheels up to 10" in diameter are plated and balanced here; plating runs to AMS 2460 and AMS 2406, plasma spray to AMS 2437.
Every part is verified before it ships — magnetic particle inspection to ASTM 1444 or liquid penetrant to ASTM 1417, both in-house.
Processes involved
- Hard chrome plating to AMS 2460 / AMS 2406, as revised
- Plasma flame spray to AMS 2437, as revised
- Precision grinding to finished dimension
- Dynamic balancing
- Magnetic particle and liquid penetrant inspection
