The work
Water treatment plant components are among the parts BBC hard chrome plates. The environment is wet and chemically aggressive, and corrosion is what takes these components out of service.
Where a component is sound, .0001" of hard chrome puts a dense barrier over it without meaningful dimensional change. Where corrosion has already taken material, the same process rebuilds it — up to .050" — and grinding brings it back to print.
