Quality policy
Quality here is a documented framework, not a slogan. It is the FAR 145 approval that lets aviation work happen in the building.
Our commitment
Babbitt Bearing Company is committed to returning every component measured back to print, using processes performed to their current published specifications and verified before the part ships.
That commitment is backed by an FAA Repair Station approval rather than asserted. Our Quality Manual, Repair Station Manual and employee training programs are developed in accordance with the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulation Part 145. FAR 145 governs how the shop is organised, how its people are trained, how work is documented, and how it is inspected.
How that shows up in the work
The practices that follow from working under FAR 145.
- Processes performed to the current revisions of their specifications — AMS 2460 and AMS 2406 for hard chrome, AMS 2437 for plasma spray
- Non-destructive testing in-house to ASTM 1444 (magnetic particle) and ASTM 1417 (liquid penetrant)
- Training documented rather than assumed
- Procedures written down rather than carried in memory
- Work inspected and recorded before a part is released
- A single chain of custody — evaluation to final inspection under one roof
Honesty about scope
BBC holds an FAA Repair Station certificate under FAR 145. That is an airworthiness approval, not an ISO 9001 or AS9100 registration — we would rather tell you that plainly than let the distinction blur. If your programme requires AS9100 or ISO specifically, tell us early so we can work out what your quality organisation needs.
We also will not quietly substitute a specification. If your print calls out the cancelled AMS-QQ-C-320, we will work out the current equivalent with you rather than making the decision without you.
Quality questions
- Is BBC ISO 9001 or AS9100 registered?
- No. BBC holds an FAA Repair Station certificate under FAR 145 — an airworthiness approval, not a quality-system registration. If your programme requires AS9100 or ISO 9001 specifically, tell us early.
- Can I see the manuals?
- Ask. Contact us and we will work out what your quality organisation needs.
- Do you inspect what you repair?
- Yes — magnetic particle to ASTM 1444 and liquid penetrant to ASTM 1417, both in a complete inspection department on our own floor.
